Diamond Lake

Diamond Lake is a natural body of water just 40 miles from Crater Lake RV Park near the junction of Oregon Route 138 and Oregon Route 230 in the Umpqua National Forest. It is located between Mount Bailey to the west and Mount Thielsen to the east; it is just north of Crater Lake National Park.

There is great fishing and boating on the lake. The 11-mile paved bike path along the lake shoreline is great for strolling along as well as biking.

Every June, the Black Bird, a local sporting goods store in Medford, hosts the Black Bird $5,000 Fishing Derby, Southern Oregon’s largest Trout Fishing Derby. The Derby takes place the first Saturday after Father’s Day every year at beautiful Diamond Lake.

Fourth of July at Diamond Lake is a great place to enjoy a spectacular free fireworks show. You can also enjoy great BBQ and music while waiting for the show to start from a barge on the lake. Bring your blanket or chairs and find a spot on the beach to ooh and ahh at the show under the stars.
