Television Access

We often get the question “is there cable TV?” The reality of living in the woods is there is no cable! At the Crater Lake RV Park, we’ve solved that problem as best we could by installing DirecTV satellite dishes here and there and running satellite cable from the dishes to most of the sites. PLEASE do not try to connect TV yourself. It is not as easy as in a park that has cable you just connect to. You will need to ask a Park Host to do this for you to protect our system and avoid your own frustration, even if you already have your own DirecTV box with you. 😉

We have DirecTV boxes available for rent for just $16 for the first 3 nights and $3.50 per night thereafter (longer term rates are available). This gets you more channels than you can possibly watch, including many movie and sports channels! So if you just can’t live without TV on vacation, we will do our best to accommodate you.

TV boxes are only installed up to 5 pm daily so decide early so we can schedule the installation. Access to the back of your TV is a requirement and the cable will need to come through a window. Not all RV TVs are accessible and most RVs that are wired are not wired for satelite cable, just regular TV cable, hence the need for window access.

A few sites can work with portable satellite dishes that you can position at the end of the site. As our trees have grown quite tall over the years, domed satellite dishes don’t often have enough of an unobstructed view to work well.

If TV doesn’t work for you or your stay is too short to consider renting a TV box, we have a lending library of DVDs that you can check out. There’s also a “leave a book, take a book” area that our guests have started and you’re welcome to participate.
