Mountains

The Southern Oregon Cascade range is filled with spectacular forest and high volcanic peaks such as Mount McLoughlin (9,495 ft), Mount Thielson (9,184 ft), Mount Scott (8,934 ft) and Mount Bailey (8,375 ft) to name but a few. The slopes of many of these old volcanoes have eroded to show their rocky cores and their peaks are often snow-covered. Hiking trails to these peaks offer a challenging day trip. The Pacific Coast Trail also meanders through the area. This entire area is a geologists playground as the volcanic legacy of this part of the Ring of Fire has left its mark at every turn!
