BBQs & Fire Pits
***PLEASE CHECK WITH THE OFFICE BEFORE USING BARBEQUES***
Propane BBQs and fire pits are OK to use at the Crater Lake RV Park.
We ask that you NOT put barbecues or anything HOT on our plastic picnic tables because they will damage the tables (plastic melts!). If you are going to use charcoal, you MUST let us know so that we may instruct you on the proper disposal of your used charcoal. This is a fire safety issue.
Fire pits are available from the office for sites that can safely accommodate them. There is no charge for the fire pit, but you MUST purchase firewood at a nominal fee from the office. This is not so we can make money, rather it is to comply with the Forest Service policy of ‘buy it where you burn it’. The reason you are not allowed to transport and burn your own wood, is to prevent the transport of insects and diseases that can devastate a forest. Our wood is cut to length for our pits and a large bundle is just $10.50. Plenty of wood for a nice ambience fire.
Obviously we cannot allow huge bonfires at individual sites because of the trees, bushes and pine needles everywhere. We do, however, have a group campfire every Saturday night from Memorial Day through Labor Day that everyone is invited to.
